Receiving a dropshipping order from a Shopify shop
Dropshipping is more and more popular in the past couple of years.

Labeled as a low-risk business model, it allows you to sell products to customers without acquiring immense operating costs and storage space, and because of these lower costs, it is easier to profit from it than other business models.

Nevertheless, dropshipping doesn't come easy nor obstacle-free.

One of the main challenges that dropshipping businesses encounter is the high Return rate and Refunding, which we discuss in the following articles.

To evade these and other dropshipping problems, we use OdooERP, together with the connector, which streamlines your business processes and helps your dropshipping business scale and attain its goals.

If you're in the dropshipping business, the first thing you will have to do to set up dropshipping in OdooERP:
 1. Go to the Purchase module,
 2. Choose Configuration
 3. Then Settings
 4. And select Dropshipping under the Logistics tab.

After you've successfully done the first step, the next thing you will need to do is:
 1. Go to the Inventory Module,
 2. Then Configuration
 3. Choose Settings
 4. Scroll to Warehouse
 5. And Enable Multi-step Routes.

Tip: You will also need to select Dropshipping under Operations - Routes in the Inventory tab of the Products and the Vendor under the Purchase tab!

You've successfully enabled the dropshipping module in Odoo!
So, how does Odoo receive the dropshipping order from your Shopify shop?

Essentially, every time your orders are imported from your Shopify store, they are automatically assigned to a sales channel and created as a purchase order as well since Odoo is set to receive dropshipping orders.

You can see the purchase orders in the Purchase module under Requests for Quotation.

From the Requests for Quotation tab, you can see the Vendor, Purchase representative, Order deadline, Activity, Status and more, on every order.

You can edit each order successively or in bulk.

  • Once you open the order, you can Print an RFQ, Send by email, Confirm the order or edit it.
  • Once you confirm the order, the next step will be to send the invoice to the supplier.
We talk more about the Dropshipping Invoices in the following article.
Has your business outgrown the standard Shopify functionality and you are having to load up your shop with lots of Apps?
Then it's time to think of centralising your business operations in Odoo – everything from order processing, to customer support tickets, to invoicing, to payments and accounting and much more, and using Shopify as a sales frontend (Point of Sale).
Would you like to check if your Shopify shop is compatible with Odoo?
Use our FREE Connection Test, to check compatibility, and pave way to centralised management of your multichannel e-commerce business.
